Screech Owl

Found this Battus Philenor caterpillar on my walkabout last Tuesday, on Genius Loci property west of the Sutherland Wash.  I submitted this and another photo to butterflies and moths for a positive identification.  In the future, perhaps GLF will partner with BAMONA as part of our education component.
another Genius Loci resident, spotted east of the wash on 8/27/2013.
Every now and then we'll have screech owls stop by for a few days, sometimes longer. This guy seemed interested in what I was doing in the studio.

So it's finally official, Genius Loci Foundation is an incorporated nonprofit in Arizona! The picture above was taken from our home base in the Sutherland Valley. This is our #1 place of business, a place that will "belong" to everyone who becomes part of the Genius Loci Foundation.

This blog will be one of a suite of contact points regarding GLF.  Naturally, there'll be a web site and probably a facebook page. Since smartphone service is intermittent here at the ranch, the only twittering I'd expect from here will be of the feathered sort.

Our #2 place of business will be along the Rio de Flag in and around Flagstaff, Arizona.  The picture below is of Kristie, GLF Vice President, rescuing a western bluebird that had hit a window at our place in Flagstaff.  The Friends of the Rio de Flag are already doing good work to help that rio!
